Dear Mayor Nash and City Council members,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to share my support for the downtown housing project and for expanding affordable housing in Menlo Park. I am also concerned about the Attorney General’s July 29 notice regarding 80 Willow Road and what it may mean for the November housing initiative.
My understanding is that the Attorney General believes the City may have violated state housing laws in its handling of the 80 Willow Road application. I would appreciate clarity on how the City is responding to that notice.
I am also trying to understand the potential impact on the November initiative and the downtown housing project.
Specifically:
* How is the City responding to the Attorney General’s notice?
* Could the November initiative affect the City’s ability to comply with state housing law?
* Could it impact the downtown housing project or other approved housing efforts?
I support the downtown project and believe expanding housing, especially affordable housing, is very important for Menlo Park. My goal is simply to understand how the City plans to continue moving forward with housing while staying aligned with state law.
I think it would be helpful for residents to have a clear understanding of these issues before voting in November.
